As you've suggested, I'm starting to
substitute more healthy foods into my diet. I'm already starting to see
the results. What would you suggest I can add to some foods to
sweeten them up without adding calories?
Michael Collins: Well, I don't tend
to use a lot of artificial sweeteners, but when I do, I go with Splenda.
It's the closest taste to sugar that I've come across.
It also has the "cleanest taste"
Stevia is about 200- 300 x sweeter than
sucrose, but it tastes strange to me. The after- taste is awful
Keep in mind, Splenda does have a few
calories (4 calories/ packet). If you don't go overboard, it
shouldn't be a problem.
I'll personally tap a packet on to my
morning oatmeal, my night- time snack of cottage cheese, and once in a
while in my iced green tea.
